RFID-enity Loyality Card and System for casual fine dining establishments
This project was a design idea focused upon improving the social interaction between customers and a dining establishment for our Interaction Design Praxis class. In a team of 4, we utilized different methodologies and design processes such as Participatory Design Workshops, User Profiling and Personas, Field Studies, User Testing and Scenarios determining that a customer’s overall experience is based upon their interactions with restaurant staff, specifically the hosts and waiter/waitresses. Through this, our goal was to provide customers with a catered personal service to further their experience in a casual fine dining establishment.
The resultant was a system, in which casual-fine dining establishments are able to identify their returning customers, whom have signed up as members, and provide them a personalized service similar to having a VIP or celebrity status with the establishment.
While the design idea and the process was the concept to enhance customer experience when returning to a casual fine dining establishment, our team was required to produce a prototype idea of how this concept could be implemented. We prototyped an RFID loyalty card, an ordering device, and a profiler pamphlet in order to support our conceptual system.
Design Prototype

RFID Loyality Card
enables for the establishment to 'track' their customers
This card is represents the core aspect to making our design concept work. In order to have information about the customer, the user is required to opt in as a part of this system on their visit as a non-member. To 'track' the valued customer, the card contains an RFID electronic tag that is scanned transparently as the user walks through the door.

Order Taking Device:
enables the waiter/waitress to "get to know their customers better"
The ordering device connects to the system by scanning the table and sends information about the customers that are dinning on the table. It also contains ordering paper; so that waiter/waitress are able to take order at the same time.

Employee Profiler:
enables the customers to get to know their chef and waitress better
The profiler is a simple double sided pamphlet that give information about the current head chef of the night and the customer's waiter. This idea is to quicken their introduction process and bring them closer to their customers.
